Mr. Julian H. Preisler is a free-lance genealogist, author & archivist residing in Falling Waters, West Virginia in the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia. He is a graduate of the University of Florida and Mary Washington College and has been a professional genealogist and researcher for over 15 years. Published works include: Through The Years: Congregation Beth Israel of Media, Pennsylvania; Jewish Cemeteries of the Delmarva Peninsula; Pioneer American Synagogues: A State By State Guide; and Jewish Genealogical Resources: Mid-Atlantic States. Work has now begun on Volume Two of American Synagogues: A Photographic Journey with an anticipated completion date of 2009. Mr. Preisler is also working on a print book of color and vintage photographs of synagogues of Philadelphia and the Delaware Valley that will be published by "The History Press" later this year. The son of Holocaust Survivors, Julian is a native of Detroit, Michigan and has had an interest in Jewish history/genealogy and synagogue architecture for over 25 years.
American Synagogues: A Photographic Journey was recently reviewed by noted Texas Jewish author Hollace Ava Weiner and appeared in the Texas Jewish Post. Feature articles with photographs have appeared in the Washington Jewish Week, Daily Mail (Charleston, WV), Herald-Mail (Hagerstown, MD) and The Journal (Martinsburg, WV). Shorter articles have also appeared in the Menorah (Durham, NC); Community (Louisville, KY) and The Rambler (Southern Jewish Historical Society)
